Born and raised in Northeast, I love and support the Northeast News. This weeks September 19th edition highlighted Mr. Publisher Michael Bushnell and the award he received for a editorial titled “18 usc 922G 1-9”. I did not read the article, and even though I’m sure it was a excellent read, I have a problem with 18 USC 922G; it’s unconstitutional in the state of Missouri!

In 2010 the Supreme Court ruled on the ground breaking case, “McDonald v. Chicago,” that, “Second Amendment protections are incorporated to that state.” Our Great State made some changes to the constitution that says, “gun ownership is a inalienable right,” therefore taking 18 USC 922G out of the List of Tools the Federal government can use in the state of Missouri.

All laws must be constitutional, an unconstitutional law is simply illegal, and in Missouri 922G is illegal.
I understand the way Mr. Bushnell feels and several other Northeast residents feel the same way, but at the end of the day what it comes down to is, “anyone who can’t be trusted with a gun, can’t be trusted without a custodian.”

I also wanted to weigh in on the September 12th Illustration by our neighborhood cartoonist, Mr. Bryan Stalder; it was great! “Where’s the beef”! Can you say real news!?

I am really shocked that a member of our community would write in, and turn this into a racial rant and do a classic left wing twist. This is a neighborhood of multi-nations and yes, a lot of them are immigrants. People come to America for the American dream of good jobs, low taxes and to raise a family in a country that believes in “Liberty and Justice for all”.

Yes, Trump has made comments that are not liked and some people down right hate the man but actions speak louder than words. His actions have cut taxes, saved jobs, and renegotiated NAFTA. And he has appointed a fair judge to the Supreme Court that believes in the constitution. Yes, he put travel restrictions on several countries that just happen to be Muslim; they also chant death to America and burn our FLAG openly in their streets. I’m sure Trump would put restrictions on white nations too if they acted like the nations that we have on our terrorist watch list!

Everything he has done is to make our nation safe and make our economy grow, that was his campaign promise he was elected on, and he has so far done so. My family is made up of white, black, and Mexican, some of them immigrants, everything Trump has done has helped us “all”, not just the white side. And then to bring white supremacy and neo-Nazism, how dare you!!! I don’t know what part of Northeast you’re from, but that isn’t something that we tolerate in this part of town, you should be ashamed of yourself for even trying to play the race card. Can you say fake news!? Mr. Stalder sir, you keep up the good work!
