Why is our local government so eager to paint brand new bike lanes over our pot-holed streets? Is it so that hipsters from downtown can ride by the crime tape to watch Benton Circle fall into Cliff Drive? Wouldn’t those same hipsters enjoy riding through Brookside?
If bike lanes are such a blessing, then why do the “nice” neighborhoods not get them first? And why does our political leadership hold public comment hearings as far from our neighborhood as possible? Isn’t that undemocratic?
If City Hall is so concerned about low-income housing, why does it want to remove street parking that those very same renters rely on? A neighbor told me that this is all connected to a small federal grant that goes to a politically-connected contractor. I don’t know if that is true, but all I have is questions and no good answers.
Sincerely,
Thomas Strenge
