I have to confess that as much as I enjoy having a subscription to the Northeast News, I hesitated to listen to the podcast because I figured its quality would be somewhere on the order of rural small town radio.

I was wrong. Really, really wrong.

The production values are excellent, the pace is crisp but easy to follow, guests are instantly put at ease, and the chats are a superb blend of information and entertainment. Even if the guest has an agenda he or she wants to advance, the host allows it to happen without sounding like a carnival barker.

For big chunks of the broadcast the listener gets to feel like an eavesdropper on a conversation between two extremely intelligent people talking about a subject worthy of discussion.
