The Board said they are thrilled to welcome Bedell to the KCPS team.
“I want to highlight the fact that this successful search reflects the hard work on the part of every School Board member, and particularly the members of the Board’s Superintendent Search committee; Ms. Pattie Mansur, Ms. Melissa Robinson, and Mr. Airick West,” Board Chair Jon Hile said. “I want to thank them for devoting their time, talent and energy to this important process.”
Hile continued by thanking the entire KCPS community.
“As we began the process, we created a plan that asked our community to engage with us,” Hile said. “They answered our call by participating in focus groups, feedback sessions, and community interviews.”
Bedell was one of two finalists selected from a search process that yielded more than 70 applications. He currently serves as Assistant Superintendent for High Schools at Baltimore County Public Schools in Towson, Md. The next KCPS Superintendent holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Tennessee State University, and a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. “I also want to express the board’s gratitude to Dr. Bedell for his manner of professionalism and cooperation throughout the selection process as well as the contract negotiations,” Hile said. “Dr. Bedell is an innovative, devoted and inspiring leader; our students, parents, staff and partners will benefit greatly from his unique talents.”
