School district officials are hoping to make Kansas City Public Schools (KCPS) a little safer.
Earlier this year, KCPS formed the KCPS Safety Committee and tasked its members with brainstorming ideas on how to further protect each student’s safety. The Sandy Hook school shooting served as a catalyst for the committee.
The Safety Committee will meet tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Manual Career Technical Center, 1215 E. Truman Rd. and the public is invited to attend to learn more about the committee and safety initiatives.
Topics will include current safety procedures and methods, assessing priorities and offering insight into ways to improve the safety of schools. Public Safety Committee members will also discuss how parents and community members can become involved and offer support.
