Kansas City Police Department officers successfully talked a 16-year-old out of committing suicide today.

Officers responded to a residence in the 4900 block of Smart earlier today in regard to a 16-year-old male threatening to commit suicide. Officers called an Operation 100 and worked to negotiate with the teen.

At 2:35 p.m., the teen surrendered to officers without incident. He is being transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
