Kansas City Police officers have initiated an Operation 100 due to an incident that occurred around 1 p.m. today. Officers were traveling behind a vehicle near the 3500 block of Armour Road when the vehicle abruptly accelerated.
Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to pull over to the side of the road.
Officers then observed a female passenger scream for help as she opened and shut the passenger door. Near Volker and Troost, the female escaped from the vehicle and officers continued to pursue the vehicle to the 5400 block of Paseo, where the suspect fled on foot into a residence.
An Operation 100 is currently underway at the residence on Paseo.
UPDATE: At approximately 4:35 p.m. the male suspect and an unknown female exited the residence and surrendered peacefully. Detectives are interviewing everyone involved and charges are expected to be filed. Possible charges are kidnapping and eluding, a felony.
