Northeast’s Mattie Rhodes Center is inviting the public to attend a community forum Wednesday, Jan. 25, to listen to Kansas City Police Chief Darryl Forté discuss his priorities.

“Since he’s new, we wanted the community to come and learn more about our new chief and his priorities, especially around the Northeast area,” Atziri Tori of Mattie Rhodes Center said. “We think it’s very important for the community to know he is willing to help us and we want him to know we’re here to support him and help.”

A question and answer session will follow Forté’s presentation. Spanish translation will be provided.

In addition to meeting the chief, community members will learn more about Mattie Rhodes’ Latino Advocacy Taskforce, which offers support and educational services for families and victims of violent crime. Refreshments will be provided.

The community forum will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mattie Rhodes, 148 N. Topping, Kansas City, Mo.

“I’m hoping this can open doors not only for the community but for the KCPD, so we can work closer with them and make our community safer,” Tori said.
