Garfield Elementary School students lined up for wellness checks Thursday, Jan. 19, provided by Score 1 For Health.

Founded in 1992, Score 1 For Health continues to provide free health screenings to elementary students in the Kansas City metro area. Screenings include physical, dental, vision, blood pressure, height and weight assessments.

Each year, Score 1 For Health screens more than 13,000 elementary students and has detected issues like tooth cavities, vision problems and even tumors. It’s done to ensure physical problems are detected early and addressed so a child doesn’t fall behind in class. Look for a complete story in next week’s Northeast News.
