KANSAS CITY, Missouri — A Kansas City, Mo., man has been charged in connection with a break-in and robbery of two residents in the Northeast.
According to court documents, Marcos L. Fernandez, 27, whose last reported address is listed as 5518 E. 23rd St., has been charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, a class A felony, and two counts of armed criminal action, each a felony.
On Aug. 7, 2014, Kansas City Police responded to the area of Roberts Street and Newton Avenue for a reported shooting and robbery. The victims told police that two men forced open their door and forced them to lie on the floor, placing guns to their heads. The two men stole valuables and money, as well as the keys to their vehicle. After the two men fled, two unknown individuals began to fire shots at the suspects, hitting one of them.
Fernandez escaped the shots, but was stopped by officers nearby. Fernandez suffered a panic attack after victims identified him as one of the robbers. Fernandez was transported to an area hospital, as was the other suspect who was shot in the thigh and arm.
Police continue to investigate the break-in and robbery. Fernandez is being held on a $75,000 bond.
