KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Parts of Independence Avenue will be closed this weekend due to construction work.

The Kansas City, Mo., Public Works Department announced a two-day closure of Independence Avenue between Hardesty Avenue and Winner Road starting Saturday, Aug. 1.

Buckling underneath the Kansas City Terminal Railroad bridge requires full-depth repairs of the roadway. Independence Avenue will close to through traffic starting at 5 a.m. Saturday morning and reopen at 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3.

Crews will post a detour route from Hardesty south to Winner Road through the repair.
