IN THE MOOD has traveled across the U.S. for 19 seasons, and now the show is headed to Kansas City.

From dancing to singing, IN THE MOOD recreates the feel of the 1940s big band era and features songs like the “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy (of Company B), “Tuxedo Junction,” and more. The musical revue covers artists like Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, The Andrews Sisters, Frank Sinatra and other popular artists from the 1940s.

The company of 19 features one of Kansas City’s own, Hal Fryer, baritone saxophonist. An active freelance musician in Kansas City, Fryer is also a retired member of the United States Navy Band in Washington, D.C., where he played the baritone saxophone and the bass clarinet with the Navy’s premier jazz ensemble, the “Commodores.” Fryer served in the Navy Band for 24 years.

Mastermind behind IN THE MOOD is creator and producer Budd Forrest, a Juilliard trained pianist and conductor who also served as accompanist for the Air Force chorus, “The Singing Sergeants.” The late Vic Schoen, the show’s primary arranger, produced musical arrangements for The Andrews Sisters throughout their career.
