On Monday, December 28th at approximately 8pm, officers were dispatched to the area of 8th street and Prospect Avenue on a shooting call. Officers found the victim, twenty year old Yassin, Abdulbasid of Kansas City unresponsive, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital where he remained in critical condition. Detectives processed the scene that evening and nobody was taken in to custody.
Over the weekend Detectives were notified that the victim had succumbed to his injuries on January 1st at approximately 4pm.
If anyone has any information on this case they are asked to call the Homicide Unit directly at 234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline at 474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case. This homicide will be counted in 2020 since the initial crime occurred on December 28th.
