BREAKING — Just before 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) officers responded to a reported shooting call at the 3700 block of St. John Ave., within the Historic Northeast.
Once on the scene, officers located an adult male in a convenience store parking lot near St. John and Monroe Avenues, who was experiencing gunshot wounds. While KCPD performed on-scene medical assistance, Emergency Medical Personnel (EMS) was requested. Upon arrival, EMS pronounced the victim deceased, according to a release from KCPD Media Unit, Wednesday evening.
This case is currently under homicide investigation. However, a preliminary investigation revealed an exchange the victim and another individual prior to gunfire.
Detectives and investigators are currently examining security camera footage and canvassing the scene for physical evidence, according to KCPD Media Unit, Wednesday.
