The Guinotte Ave. sinkhole project has had Guinotte closed at Highland
Avenue is slated for completion later this week. Contractors were
pouring concrete and setting curbs last Thursday and Friday with asphalt
work scheduled to be completed on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week.
The road has been closed since July, 2019 for multiple utility projects
including Veolia Energy, Spire Energy and the city’s Water Department.
According to Maggie Green, Public Information Officer for the city’s
Public Works Department due to the heavy truck traffic along Guinotte,
proper curing and cooling time are essential for the job to be completed
properly. A Thursday or Friday opening date is projected if weather
permits.
