KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Frontier STEM High School (6455 E. Commerce Ave.) invited the public to its new gymnasium on Friday, May 13, to highlight an array of mind-blowing student projects at the STEM Expo.

Dozens of display tables were set up for students to present their STEM-based projects in the packed gym. Students created electricity by pedaling a bicycle, showed how LED lights could help create an infinity mirror, tested the surprising durability of balloons resting on a bed of nails, displayed how a combination of compounds could create a fireball in a person’s hand, experimented with Tesla coils, and much more.

District Outreach Coordinator Jennifer Watson said that the public charter school expects the STEM Expo to become an annual event.

“We have over 100 students participating in this event – it’s 9th through 11th grade,” said Watson. “This is really kind of a big kick-off, so now we can have all of our events in this gym.”
