The City of Kansas City, Mo., is offering a limited supply of FluMist nasal spray vaccine to children who qualify while supplies last at the Health Department, 2400 Troost Ave.
Children between the ages of six months and 18 years who have no health insurance or who qualify for Medicaid can receive either the nasal spray vaccine or a flu shot at no cost through the Vaccine For Children program.
Flu vaccine is available during regular clinic hours from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays.
Getting a flu shot is the single best way to prevent the flu or decrease the length and severity of symptoms. Those who are vaccinated against the flu are far less likely to spread the flu to their family or friends.
More information on flu shot clinics may be found at the Health Department Web page, www.kcmo.org/health.
