Saturday, May 9, the Della Lamb Community Center, in partnership with Kansas City University and Truman Medical Center, offered free COVID-19 testing to 65 Northeast residents at a mobile clinic set up in a KCU parking lot on Independence Avenue.
This clinic provides greater access to testing for low-income Kansas Citians as well as generates concrete data to better understand the severity of COVID-19 within Kansas City.
According to Ryan Hudnall, Della Lamb’s executive director, testing was provided for those who have shown one or more symptoms of COVID-19.
“Some internal data at Truman Medical Centers was showing a greater need for testing in the Historic Northeast community,” Hudnall said. “We’re so grateful that Della Lamb can serve as a host for the event and meet a need in the community.”
COVID-19 testing is completed through a nose swab. Results of the testing will be communicated via phone to those who were tested this week.
