Frank was born on April 30, 1969, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Stefano and Damiana (Sarro) Ferro. He was a mail carrier for 28 years. Frank (Frankie) Ferro was one of a kind. He never met a carrier he wouldn’t help. He was a union steward for 20 years at the James Crews station. He was also a Trustee for Branch 30 of the National Association of Letter Carriers since 2008. In that time, he processed thousands of grievances on behalf of letter carriers. It didn’t end there though; he went out of his way to show new employees how to; sign-up and contribute to the Thrift Savings Program (TSP), uniform allowances, their contractual rights, and the way the union worked. It was in his nature to help anywhere help was needed.

It didn’t matter your religion, race, or age, he was there to help. He was tenacious in his belief that all carriers deserved a great steward no matter what they had been accused of and he fought hard for everyone he represented. He was a true champion of the underdog, believing everyone deserved perpetual representation. He brought out the best in people because of his sense of fairness. You liked him even if he disagreed with you because of the respect that he had earned through his words and actions. He never let a carrier down. Frank was the old school union activist you wanted in your corner when the chips were down. He saved countless jobs, made life on the workroom floor easer and educated newer employees to get the most out of their career.

His service above all else was noted on the dedication to the Boy Scouts of Troop and Pack 80. He became an honorary warrior in 2008 “Faithful Walking Bear” and returned to H. Roe Bartle up until 2019. Various positions of assistant scoutmaster, camp scoutmaster, den leader, and institutional head for both troop and pack for the past 5 years. Dedicating his time and talent to help the boys every way possible and especially the fund raisers. Even though his son, Frank II, had limited time to assist, he always made time to help. He received the bronze Pelican Catholic Award and District Award of Merit. The boys and leaders benefited and treasure the time we had.

Frank was preceded in death by his father Stefano Ferro, brother in-law Joseph Ferro, and niece Gianna Mygatt.
