At approximately 4:48 this afternoon, Kansas City Missouri firefighters responded to a residential fire in the 400 block of Norton Avenue.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the first floor of the house was fully involved. The residents of the house , an elderly man and woman escaped the fire without injuries. The woman according to the to the husband had just had her leg amputated and was wheelchair-bound and was at a neighbor’s house while the husband ran to the store.

When he returned to the home, he said it was already in flames. According to the man, a dog and a cat remained inside the house. Firefighters continue the search. Cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Neighbor’s however indicate that the house did not have power.
