For the last five-plus years, Herbert Hoskins, Independence Avenue CID Ambassador, has walked Independence Avenue in all kinds of weather conditions, making sure the Avenue was a little bit better than it was the day before.

Hoskins’ last day with the CID was Friday, December 27. Hoskins has taken a position at Research Psychiatric Center as a counselor.

One of his favorite things about being an ambassador, he said, was the new people he’s met over the years.

Additionally, he said he is proud of the work he and his fellow ambassadors have done in improving the Avenue over time.

“When I got here five years ago, it was bad,” he said. “We didn’t have any of the beautification back then. It’s done a complete 180-turn for the better.”
