After more than a decade and a half in service as one of the primary delivery vehicles at The Northeast News, this 2005 Dodge Caravan was donated to Healing House by former Northeast News publisher Michael Bushnell and his wife Chris Adams.

“We wanted it to go to an organization in the community that could put it to good use,” Adams said. “Healing House has done so much in rebuilding families, it was our go-to in terms of beneficiaries.”

The van was purchased in 2005 and was used on a weekly basis for newspaper delivery in addition to being the daily driver for Adams, a high school debate coach who regularly shuttled students to and form tournaments.

Karl Ploeger, Healing House’s Director of Development was grateful for the donation. “Heartfelt Thanks to Northeast News for their incredible generosity in donating a minivan to Healing House,” Ploeger said. “Your support means the world to us and will significantly enhance our ability to serve those in need, transporting our participants to important appointments and services, ensuring they have the support they need.”

Healing House is a faith based, substance abuse recovery organization headquartered in the old Safeway store at St. John and Elmwood Avenue. For more information on vehicle donation opportunities with Healing House, visit their web site at: https://www.healinghousekc.org/
