KANSAS CITY, Missouri – One person is dead after a dispute in the East Bottoms on Wednesday afternoon led to a high speed chase up Chestnut Avenue.

According to witnesses, three cars were involved in the accident, two of which were driven by people involved in the original dispute. One witness, who did not wish to be named, said, “it was a situation that was handled very badly.” The driver of the pickup truck skid off the pavement knocking down a streetlight and struck an abutment under the Lexington Avenue bridge, just south of Green Lake off Cliff Drive. The third vehicle involved in the chase left the scene.

The identity of the driver of the pickup truck was not released. Crews are still on the scene extricating the victim from the vehicle. We’ll have more details on this as they become available.
