The Main Street Bridge over Interstate 670 will temporarily close beginning Sept. 13 to allow construction crews to make improvements worth $2.75 million.
During construction, traffic will be rerouted to Oak and Baltimore streets. The project will replace the Main Street Bridge with a three-lane concrete bridge to improve vertical clearance and address ongoing traffic needs in the area. In addition, crews will widen bridge sidewalks, improve crosswalks and ramps on Truman Road and install updated bridge lighting and decorative fencing.
Accelerated construction is scheduled to minimize closure of the bridge to 50 days. A reopening date is expected in early to mid-November.
Construction will also require single-lane closures of Interstate 670 to allow repairs to the retaining wall and construction of the bridge support columns.
