Friday, May 3- Family Bingo at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, St. Joseph’s Hall, 3208 Lexington Ave. Doors open at 4 pm, Bingo begins at 6 pm. 3 cards and 3 papers for $6, and cash raffles, $1 per ticket. Hotdogs, nachos, popcorn, desserts and drinks available.
Friday, May 3- Crossroads District Wide Art Show from 5 to 8 pm at El Torreon KC, 3101 Gillham Plaza. Over 1000 pieces of art created by Crossroads Charter School K-12 students will be on display as well as music performances and poetry readings. Free.
Saturday, May 4- 2nd Annual Elmwood Bike Rodeo, 11 am to 2 pm, at the Elmwood Cemetery, 4900 E, Truman Rd. Come learn bicycle safety in a safe, car-free environment. Free bikes and helmets available for kids ages 6- 12 while supplies last. Prizes and fun for the whole family.
Saturday, May 4- Goal for Health, Fiesta, Salud y Futbol!, at the Van Brunt Soccer Field, from 11 am to 3 pm. Free soccer clinic and health fair, with live DJ, clinic for kids ages 6-12, food and prizes, including free soccer balls for the first 200 kids. Sponsored by KC Parks & Recreation and University of Kansas Health System.
Saturday, May 4 & Sunday, May 5- Garden Party for the Planet, 11 am to 2 pm, at the Stone Lion Puppet Garden, 2400 E. Truman Rd. Come interact with life-size puppets, enjoy music and puppet making activities. “Off the Deep End” puppet show each day at 1 pm. Free fun for the whole family.
Tuesday, May 7- Kansas City Symphony in the Park, Indian Mound Park at Belmont and Gladstone Blvds at 6 pm. The symphony’s string quartet will perform a selection of classical and popular arrangements. Bring your lawn chairs and picnic baskets and enjoy a free concert to celebrate spring.
