KANSAS CITY, Missouri — The wait is over.

Cliff Drive, the state scenic byway located in historic Northeast Kansas City, will reopen to one-way vehicular traffic at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. The eastbound lane from The Paseo to Indian Mound will be open to vehicles; the westbound lane will be a dedicated bike and pedestrian lane. There is a bollard system separating the lanes. The drive will be open to vehicles until dusk on Saturday, October 17.

The drive closed to vehicular traffic on Nov. 26, 2014, for construction projects that included renovation of stairs and overlooks, road striping and improvements to bike trails. The original anticipated reopening of the scenic byway was this past June.

The drive will close at dusk each weekday evening and reopen the following morning. Car Free Weekends will continue with the gates closing at dusk each Friday and reopening on Monday morning.
