Do you need to purge your home of A.B.O.P.T.?

A.B.O.P.T. stands for antifreeze, batteries, oil, paint and tires, and all are considered household hazardous waste.

The city of Kansas City, Mo., with the help of Heartland Community Connection and other partners, is giving its residents an opportunity to safely dispose of the household hazardous waste during the A.B.O.P.T., Tire, Leaf and Brush Collection Event on June 1 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Robert J. Mohart Center, 3200 Wayne Ave., Kansas City, Mo. Only Kansas City, Mo., residents may participate and space is limited to 300 vehicles. Proof of residency will be required.

Proshred will also be on site to shred personal documents.

Books will also be collected to donate to the KC Rehab Institute.

For year-round disposal of household hazardous waste, take advantage of the city’s drop-off facility on Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment is required.
