KANSAS CITY, Missouri —With the upcoming holiday comes business closings.

The following will be closed July 4, 2014, in observance of Independence Day:
-All public library branches, to reopen for regular hours July 5.
-All city offices, to reopen for regular hours July 7.
-All Jackson County offices, including courthouses, to reopen for regular hours July 7.
-311 Call Center, to reopen for regular hours July 5.
-All post offices, to reopen for regular hours July 7.
-Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, to reopen for regular hours July 5.
-Negro League Baseball Museum, to reopen for regular hours July 5.
-American Jazz Museum, to reopen for regular hours July 5.
-All Kansas City Parks community centers, to reopen for regular hours July 5.
-Kansas City Museum, to reopen for regular hours July 5.

For those whose trash is normally picked up on Friday, July 4, trash collection will resume the following Saturday, July 5. The week after the holiday, July 5-10, is Trash Amnesty Week. During this time, residents may set out up to 15 bags of trash without tags. No hazardous waste, bulky items or leaf and brush will be collected.

Not everything will be closed though. If you need something to do in the day before the firework shows at night, here is a list of what will be open on July 4:
-Kansas City parks department public pools.
-National World War One Museum at Liberty Memorial.
-Union Station, as well as Science City.
-Worlds of Fun.
-Kansas City Zoo, with free admission for active and retired military individuals.
