KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Because of Christmas and New Year’s holiday, Kansas City, Mo., offices will be closed on Friday, Dec. 25, and Friday, Jan. 1. 2016. The 311 Call Center, a division of the city manager’s office, will also be closed on these dates. During the city-observed holidays, trash and recycling collection will be delayed one day. The trash and recycling schedule will be as follows:

• Christmas

• Residents who usually have Friday trash collection will receive the service on Saturday, Dec. 26. Residents who usually have Monday trash collection will not be impacted.

• New Year’s Holiday

• Residents who usually have Friday trash collection will receive the service on Saturday, Jan. 2.

• Residents who usually have Monday trash collection will not be impacted

Trash Amnesty Week: Dec. 26-Dec. 31

To accommodate the extra trash accumulated during the holiday season, the city will grant residents trash amnesty from Saturday, Dec. 26 to Thursday, Dec. 31. During this time, residents may dispose of up to 15 bags of trash (or up to 500 pounds) on the curb without tagging the trash bags.

Please remember that the city’s unlimited curbside recycling program can help reduce the amount of trash bags. Residents are encouraged to recycle plastics #1-7, and cardboard

and seasonal gift boxes. Residents may also bring recyclable items, including glass, to recycling centers located at Metro North Mall, 9051 Hillcrest Road, and 4707 Deramus Avenue. The centers are open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Please note, paper gift wrap is not recyclable. Christmas tree disposal

Christmas trees may be disposed free of charge every Saturday at the city’s Leaf and Brush drop-off sites. Residents will be charged $5 per tree for the disposal of Christmas trees Monday through Friday. Leaf and Brush drop-off sites will be closed in observance of holidays on Dec. 24 and 25, and on Dec. 31, and Jan. 1. All drop-off sites will close for the season on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 and will reopen on March 14. Please remember to remove all ornaments, lights and tinsel before using this service.

Leaf and Brush drop-off sites:

• N. Main Street: Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

• 1815 N. Chouteau Traffic Way: Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

• 10301 Raytown Road: Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday only.
