KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Kansas City, Mo., in partnership with the Kansas City Missouri Homesteading Authority, has launched a new Kansas City Homeownership Initiative Program.
According to a press release, the program, titled Est. KC, identifies homes in Kansas City that are in need of rehabilitation and assists first-time home buyers in purchasing and rehabilitating the home. Est. KC offers a special homeownership annuity to program participants. After five years, home owners will be eligible for up to $12,000 in approved financial reimbursements which can be used for spending related to family goals such as payment for college loans, or application to the home-loan balance.
John Wood, Director of Neighborhoods and Housing Services, said in the release that he believes Est. KC is a unique opportunity for first-time home buyers to rehabilitate and create a home in Kansas City.
The First Est. KC home available for purchase is located at 2626 Tracy Avenue in the Beacon Hill Area. Applications and the application checklist are now available. An open house to showcase this home will be held from 9 a.m. — noon Saturday, June 20. The application deadline is June 30, 2015. The KC Homeownership Initiative Program is administered by the city’s Neighborhoods and Housing Services Department, Housing and Community Development Division.
