This week, the Book of the Week was chosen by Library Technical Assistant Dave Joiner at the North-East Branch Library.
Dave chose “Seven Fallen Feathers: Racism, Death, and Hard Truths in a Northern City” by Tanya Talaga.
“Seven Fallen Feathers tells the story of 7 indigenous high school students who died under mysterious causes in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada,” Dave said. “The stories are heartbreaking and Talaga does an excellent job in giving the background of the events that led to the disappearances of these young people. The neglect and willingness, of the authorities, to sweep these deaths and others like them under the rug makes this a tough read that doesn’t give you a lot of resolution.”
This book is available as a paper copy to those with a Kansas City Public Library card.
