Librarians from the North-East Branch of the Kansas City Public Library (KCPL) share weekly book and digital resource recommendations on a variety of topics. They can all be found at KCPL.

This week’s recommendation is from Samantha Edwards, Youth and Family Engagement Librarian.

The first book from the Banned Book series is Drama by Raina Telgemeier.

“Drama is a tween graphic novel about a middle schooler working in her school play and learning to navigate new types of friendships,” Edwards said. “The book tackles LGBTQ relationships and was in the top 5 of ALA’s most challenged books 2016-2018.”
