KANSAS CITY, Missouri – The 64th Annual Blue Valley Kiwanis Club Chili Day was held on Thursday, November 17 at the Salvation Army facility located at 6618 Truman Road.

The all-you-can eat chili meal is a hallmark event for the Blue Valley Kiwanis Club, an organization dedicated to serving children. The group utilizes the proceeds to support a variety of local organizations, including Golden Gloves, the Mattie Rhodes Center, Della Lamb, and Bishop Sullivan Center.

Blue Valley Kiwanis Club President Jerry Morales said that the organization’s primary focus is on the children of the Northeast community.

“Kids are our main concern,” said Morales. “We work for the kids.”

Kiwanis Club member Don Leming added that friendships created through the organization keep its members coming back together to help the community.

“The glue that really keeps this club together is the friendship and camaraderie that we’ve formed over the years,” said Leming. “In one way or another, we’re all connected to the Northeast.”
