Due to the Phillips 66 Big 12 Basketball Championships this week in Kansas City, there will be several road closures near the Sprint Center.
The Big 12 will be held March 7-10 and during this time, Truman Road will have two closed lanes from Oak Street to Grand Boulevard, leaving one lane open. Grand Boulevard will be closed between 13th Street and Truman Road. 14th Street will be closed inside the Kansas City Power & Light District, between Walnut Street and Grand Boulevard.
The championship games for the men’s teams will be played at Sprint Center, while championship games for the women’s teams will be played at Municipal Auditorium. Game schedules are available at www.big12sports.com.
Individuals planning to attend the Big 12 are advised to show up early to offset delays created by increased traffic and parking demand. Plenty of parking is available within comfortable walking distance to the Sprint Center.
Motorists parking downtown are reminded that valuables in their vehicles should be kept out of plain site. This also includes chargers for cell phones, GPS devices and iPods. Even a charger is a temptation for a criminal, who hopes the individual stored the device in a center console or glove box.
