Avis Marie McConnell, 67, of Northeast Kansas City passed away Oct. 15, 2011, at North Kansas City Hospice House.

Avis was born in Russell, Kan., on Sept. 16, 1944. She married and moved to the Kansas City area, settling in Northeast in the late 1960s. She raised three children here, all of whom she loved dearly.

Avis is survived by two brothers, Dale Weese of Garden City, Kan., and Ken Weese; two daughters, Jodie Cordray and husband, Paul and Angela Coe and husband, Robert, both of Northeast Kansas City; one son, Carl McConnell of Edwards, Mo.; four grandchildren, Ashley Arnold, Michael Candillo, Mark Stancil II and Christopher Cordray. She is also survived by one great-grandson, Zachary Arnold, who has brought her great joy.

Avis loved her family and friends. She never spoke an unkind word about anyone. She will be missed by everyone whose lives she has touched.
