Taste and Tour. Area residents packed the American Sons of Columbus Hall, 2415 Independence Ave., Saturday, Sept. 7, for the NEKC International Taste and Tour. The Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce estimates nearly 230 people attended. The night kicked off with trolley tours, lead by local historians Michael Bushnell and Kent Dicus, which showcased the gems of Historic Northeast. Following the tour, attendees could sample cuisine from around the world, all catered by local restaurants. From cupcakes to sambusa to bahn mi sandwiches and more, there was enough variety to tickle anyone’s taste buds. For three hours, the jazz inspired sounds of the Grand Marquis band filled the air and the Swingsters dance troupe showed off their swing dancing skills. Other activities included a live auction and 50/50 drawing.
