Arthur McGuire, 90, of Belton, Mo., passed away June 5, 2012. Visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at McGilley and Sheil Chapel, 11924 E. 47th St., Kansas City, Mo. Services will begin at 2 p.m. at the chapel with burial to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Arthur was a jack of all trades and friend to all. He was founding member of Indian Mound Neighborhood, member of Forest Grove Baptist Church, Master Scout Leader, lifetime member of American Legion, played AAA baseball for the Detroit Tigers and was an ordained lay minister. He was a Marine in WWII, Korea and the CCCs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia Bell McGuire; son, Arthur Dempsey Dement; and sister Alberta Lois Padilla. He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Mitchell; stepchildren, Roberta McMillian, Kenny, Jerry, and Jeff Johnson, and Linda Minshell; grandchildren, Dylan Mitchell, 12 step-grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
