KANSAS CITY, Missouri — With streetcar construction underway in the City Market and downtown, Kansas City Streetcar Constructors and city officials are committed to minimizing the impacts felt by area businesses.
The Downtown Business Council, in partnership with area businesses and the KC Streetcar Constructors, are launching the “Open for Business-KC Streetcar” application for smartphones. The apps encourage people to shop and eat at businesses affected by construction routes. There is no cost to download the app. The app will be available by the end of the month.
Area businesses along the streetcar route are encourage to advertise and participate with the app. Residents then visit a bar, restaurant or business and check-in and to receive points. If you buy something, you get more points.
The more points you get, the better your chances to win prizes, including a grand prize of $5,000 provided by Fane Law Firm, at the end of construction. Some businesses are also offering sales if you use the app.
If you own a business along the construction route and would like to participate, call the KC Streetcar Constructors office at 816-804-8882.
