KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Andrew Johnson, 94, of Kansas City, MO passed away April 25, 2016 at home. Visitation from 6-8pm Thurs., April 28th at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel, 11924 E 47th St., KCMO 64133, with the Rosary recited at 6pm. Funeral service 10am Fri., April 29th at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 5106 St. John Ave., KCMO 64123 with burial following in Calvary Cemetery.
Andy was born May 16, 1921 in Gordon, NE. He and his twin sister, Annie, were the youngest of 7 kids. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. After WWII he moved to MO where he met the love of his life, Dorothy Harbrucker. They were married Oct. 2, 1946 at Holy Cross and Andy later converted to Catholicism in 1958. He became a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and was a former President of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Andy was an artist and a body & fender man. He retired from TWA in 1984.
Andy was a devoted Catholic with a strong devotion to the Rosary. He was a good man who dearly loved his family which included his pet dogs, cats, birds & squirrels. He loved to sing, dance & tell stories. He was a friend to all he met & will be greatly missed.
Andy was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 2003; his parents, John & Sigrid; brothers, Harold, Al & Eric; and sisters, Theresa, Thyra & Annie. He is survived by his children, Joyce Slater (Robert), Barbara Johnson, Margaret Kensinger (William), Donna Yeager (Christopher), Gloria Jaros (Sharon Brown) & John Johnson (Linda); grandchildren, Andrea Bezek, Kyle Slater, Khalid Johnson, Kyan Hammerbacher, Megan & Jennie Kensinger, Andrea Neuzil, Jason, Jessica & Danielle Yeager; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews & cousins.
