BREAKING — Just after 8:30 p.m., on Friday, March 28, Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) officers dispatched to the 400 block of Park Ave., within the Pendleton Heights neighborhood on a reported shooting call.
Once on the scene, officers located an adult male — who was experiencing gunshot wounds — lying on the ground. While KCPD performed on-scene medical assistance, Emergency Medical Personnel (EMS) was requested. Upon arrival, EMS pronounced the victim deceased on the scene, according to a release from KCPD Media Unit, Friday evening.
This incident is currently under homicide investigation. While officers have not taken anyone into custody at this time, a preliminary investigation did reveal an exchange between the victim and another individual prior to gunfire in the street of the dispatch location, KCPD Media Unit shared Friday
Investigators and detectives are currently canvassing the scene for witnesses, incident footage and any potential physical evidence.
