Hard Hat Tour
Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family. Visitors will see Corinthian Hall in mid-renovation, the bare interior of the building exposed for the first time in decades. Visitors will examine 100-year-old craftsmanship, see the ornate salon and library and view the exquisite stained glass windows. Tours are free and will be held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo.

VFW Hero Fest 2012
Join VFW Post 9997 for a three-day concert weekend May 11-13.  Twenty local bands from all genres will be playing over the course of the three-day event. In addition, there will be food, drinks, race cars, military recruiters and prizes. The event is free and will be held at 6801 Wilson Rd., Kansas City, Mo.

Swing Dancing at Don Bosco
Pendleton Heights will host swing dancing lessons at Don Bosco Center’s gym, Independence Avenue and Garfield on May 16. No partner is needed and class will last 45 minutes to an hour. All are invited to attend. Cost is $5. Swing lessons will be held the third Wednesday of every month.

Breakfast for Champions
Check out the fourth annual School Bell Breakfast: A Breakfast for Champions at 7:30 a.m. May 16 at The Muehlebach Hotel. All proceeds will go toward the Strong City School Fund to open the doors of accredited neighborhood Catholic elementary schools to low-income families. T-bones Baseball with Northeast Chamber
Join the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce for a night of baseball with the Kansas City T-Bones on Thursday, May 17.  Game starts at 7:05 p.m. and only 20 tickets are available. Knights of Columbus Council 4613 will host a night of karaoke and dancing from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on May 18 at St. Anthony’s Parish – St. Joseph Hall, 3208 Lexington, Kansas City, Mo. Food will also be available for purchase.

ProXimity Art Show
Check out ProXimity, a showcase of Columbus Park artists, on Friday, May 18, from 6 p.m.  to 10 p.m. at the Trap Gallery, 525 Gillis St., Kansas City, Mo.  More than 30 Columbus Park artists are participating.

Call for Window Dressing Artists
Join Northeast Arts KC to finish its “House of Cards” at the southwest block of 7th and Indiana, Kansas City, Mo.  Twenty-nine window boards will be drawn out and ready to paint.  Northeast Arts will supply the paint and brushes; you supply the brush strokes. Novice and experienced painters are welcome. The window dressing will be held on May 19 and 20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Food will be provided. Additional help is also needed for cleaning up the property’s corner, picking up trash, mowing and removing graffiti.

Walk and Talk Tour of Columbus Park
Listen to historic insights about Kansas City and enjoy a stroll through historic Columbus Park on Sunday, May 20.  The Walk and Talk is sponsored by the Kansas City Museum and will be hosted by Michael Bushnell.  Meet at Columbus Park, Independence Avenue and Charlotte Street, at 2 p.m. Cost is $5 per person or $15 for groups of four.  Ages 5 and up are welcome.

Block Watch Training
Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood Association will host a block watch training at 6:45 p.m. May 21 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 309 Benton Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Potluck dinner will begin at 6 p.m. followed by two separate the block watch trainings at 6:45 p.m. Trainings will be held in both English and Spanish. You do not need to be a Scarritt resident to participate.

Un-Chef Cook-Off
Local media personalities Curtis Jay and Keith King of 41 Action News and Zeke Montana of Q-104 will bring their culinary skills (or lack thereof) to a cooking challenge in the style of “Top Chef” and “Chopped”! One lucky audience member will join the panel of judges in tasting and critiquing the chefs’ creations.  The fundraising event for Kansas City’s Newhouse, a women’s shelter, will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at Studio 2131, 2131 Washington St., Kansas City, Mo.  Cost is $40 per person.
