Substance abuse recovery
A substance abuse recovery meetings will take place at 7 p.m. every Wednesday at New Beginning Apostolic Church. Contact Frederick Wilson (816-786-1981) for more information. The Kansas City Museum will be closed from January 17 to February 12 to install new exhibitions.

Walk with ease
At 3 p.m. at the North-East Library, this course will teach participants how to walk and stretch safely, increase flexibility, and improve balance. Weekly incentives will be given to participants. Join to learn how walking can improve your fitness and help manage your arthritis pain.
Adult Thursday Games
Join other adults at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd., Kansas City, Mo., to play a variety of games at 2 p.m.
ESL Class
Join the North-East Public Library at 10 a.m. to learn basic English skills: reading, writing, and conversation. No fee or books required.

Chair fitness
Join North-East Public Library at 9:30 a.m. for physical fitness. No matter what your limitations, maybe you can still reap the physical, mental and emotional benefits of exercise. This class is designed to give you a total body workout. Cardio, strength and flexibility exercises are all performed from a seated position.
Story time and craft
Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft at 10:30 a.m. Parents and kids will enjoy stories geared toward toddlers and pre-schoolers. Get ready for songs, tongue twisters and dramatic play.

Old House Expo
The Kansas City Museum is proud to sponsor the 2016 Old House Expo presented by the Historic Kansas City Foundation and the Young Preservationists, KC at 9:30 a.m. Enjoy a day packed with information, assistance, and networking–all about historic houses! Whether you are thinking of buying or already a homeowner, this event is for you. Join the conversation and help inspire residents to invest in rehabilitating and renovating historic homes. The Exhibition Hall and Education Sessions will be located in the Carriage House and Corinthian Hall with booths comprised of vendors, contractors, banks, architects, and other professional and nonprofit services. Historic Kansas City Foundation volunteers will also be manning a booth to assist with researching the history of your house! Get onsite help finding tax assessor photos, search online resources, and get other research tips. Historic Kansas City Foundation is also pleased to welcome Bernice Radle as the keynote speaker and happy hour host. She is the owner of Buffalove Development and co-host of the DIY TV show American Rehab: Buffalo.
Computer Class
Learn about navigating your computer in this class, which offers insight into hardware and software components. Class begins at 10:30 a.m. at the North-East Public Library.
Violence Task Force listening session
Join Fourth District Councilwoman Jolie Justus, chair of the Citizens Task Force on Violence, for the first in a series of listening sessions to be held from 10 a.m. – noon at the Leon M. Jordan Police Campus, 2640 Prospect Ave. Residents are asked to limit comments to five minutes. Speakers also are encouraged to prepare written summaries of their remarks and to submit documents that they would like to be made available to task force members. Listening sessions are different from the monthly task force meetings at which guest speakers will provide information on specific topics.

Join the NEKCCC for its annual Beads, Beans and Beer Mardi Gras Party. Art of Love Valentine Coffee
The Fourth Annual “ART OF LOVE” Valentine Coffee is scheduled to take place from 9 – 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, in Corinthian Hall at the Kansas City Museum. This event is free to attend but guests must RSVP to Paul Gutierrez at paul.gutierrez@kcmo.org. Spaces are Limited (with both seated and standing RSVPs available for the performance). Hosted by the Scarritt Renaissance Coffee Club and the Kansas City Museum, sample decadent sweets and savories while enjoying a unique sneak peek performance of the “Elixir of Love” by the Lyric Opera of Kansas City.
