Walk with ease club
At 9:30 a.m. at the North-East Library, this six-week course will teach participants how to walk and stretch safely, increase flexibility, and improve balance. Weekly incentives will be given to participants. Learn how walking can improve your fitness and help manage your arthritis pain.
Kansas City Museum
The Museum will be closed from Wednesday, Dec. 23 through Tuesday, Dec. 29. The Museum will be open on Dec. 30 and 31 and closed on Jan. 1, 2016. Enjoy the holidays!

Knights of Columbus dinner
Join the Knights of Columbus order #4613 for bingo and dinner on Friday, Jan. 8. in St. Joseph’s Hall in St. Anthony’s Church, 3208 Lexington Ave. Sponsored by the Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, dinner runs from 5 – 7 p.m. with a special theme; Elvis Presley Birthday Tribute with a menu featuring meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy and salad for only $7. Pop, water, coffee and Elvis themed dessert will also be available. Bingo then runs from 7 – 9 p.m.
My Kansas City: the Heritage & Legacy of the Historic Northeast
This exhibition explores the important history of Kansas City’s Historic Northeast neighborhoods and its long-awaited renaissance. As one of Kansas City’s oldest areas, the Historic Northeast’s past includes legendary, lively stories and shared memories of magnates, immigrants, mansions, ethnic businesses, and more. From culturally diverse neighborhoods, active residents, and visionary leaders to iconic monuments and beautiful natural resources, the Historic Northeast has deep historical significance for Kansas City—and the resilience and creativity of its neighborhoods is a beacon for the future. The exhibition is located in the Museum’s Carriage House and is on display through Jan. 16, 2016. Exhibition Tours are free and self-guided from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday.
Thacher time capsule opening
Northeast stakeholders are invited to join the KCPS from 10 – 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at the Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., to view the opening of the Thacher time capsule. KCPS has donated the contents for display to the Kansas City Museum. Please join us for this exciting time of honoring the past.
