Mexican American Fast Pitch Softball Leagues: Connecting Communities Across State Lines
Curated by Dr. Gene T. Chavez and presented by the Kansas City Museum in partnership with El Centro, Inc., Mexican American Fast Pitch Softball Leagues: Connecting Communities Across State Lines is an exhibition exploring the rich history and legacy of Mexican American fast pitch softball leagues in Missouri and Kansas. Opening on the weekend that the 2015 National Conference of La Raza’s (NCLR) annual conference comes to Kansas City, this exhibition features a documentary film based on oral histories of former players and items from personal collections including photographs, uniforms, league documents, trophies, and other historical materials. On view from July 11 – September 5, 2015. Exhibition tours are free and will be available on the hour from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday.

This workshop would benefit you if you have been diagnosed with a chronic disease, are living with someone with a chronic disease, or taking care of someone with a chronic disease.

Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft at 10:30 a.m. Parents and kids will enjoy stories geared toward toddlers and pre-schoolers. Get ready for songs, tongue twisters and dramatic play.
Chair Fitness
Join North-East Public Library at 9:30 a.m. for physical fitness. No matter what your limitations, maybe you can still reap the physical, mental and emotional benefits of exercise. This class is designed to give you a total body workout. Cardio, strength and flexibility exercises are all performed from a seated position.
Knights of Columbus dinner
Join the The Knights of Columbus #4613 for dinner, followed by an evening of bingo. Dinner is from 5 – 7 p.m. with bingo scheduled for 7 – 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at St. Anthony’s Church in the St. Joseph Hall, 3208 Lexington Ave. The home cooked menu includes chili dogs, salad, dessert and a drink.

Join the The Knights of Columbus #4613 for breakfast from 8:30 a.m. – noon Sunday, Aug. 9, at St. Anthony’s Church in the St. Joseph Hall, 3208 Lexington Ave. The home cooked menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage gravy over biscuits, and chorizo, as well as coffee & orange juice.
