Community crime meetings
Community members are continuing to meet every Wednesday at noon at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd. The group discusses neighborhood safety concerns and forwards the list to the police department. All are welcome.

Museum Days at the Library
Kansas City Museum volunteers will talk to youngsters about how buildings are designed and interesting houses. Youngsters will then design their own building to take home. The event will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd. Ages 3 and up are welcome.

Salvation Army Neighborhood Celebration

Dia de la Familia
Join Mattie Rhodes to celebrate its Dia de la Familia from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Mattie Rhodes Center, 148 N. Topping, Kansas City, Mo. Mattie Rhodes will have the grand opening of its farmer’s market and other activities will include a Cuban salsa band, jump houses, raffles, food and a variety of games. Historic Northeast residents are encouraged to attend this free event.

First Sunday Family Fun Day
Kansas City Museum’s First Sunday Family Fun Day will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at the museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Learn about the museum’s iconic Corinthian Hall and how it pays tribute to Roman and Greek mythology through its Beaux-Arts style and its many faces. Families will design their own face of Corinthian Hall, create a gargoyle mask, take an architecture scavenger hunt of the neighborhood and more. The event is free and all are welcome.

Get a closer look at Kansas City Missouri School District’s shuttered schools Longan, Franklin and Seven Oaks. Meet at the Mohart Multipurpose Center, 3200 Wayne Ave., Kansas City, Mo. The tours will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Free EMPOWER Kidney Disease classes are available on Tuesdays form 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Learn how to take control of kidney disease and make healthy choices. GSP’s Corks & Canvas
Good Samaritan Project’s Corks & Canvas art, food and wine auction will be held Friday, June 10, at Studio Dan Meiners, 2500 W. Pennway, Kansas City, Mo. A patron preview hour will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the main event running from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $100 per person. The mission of Good Samaritan is to provide advocacy, care and education to those affected by HIV, AIDS and STDs. 6th Annual Bar-b-que
Children’s Memorial Lutheran Church, 5001 Independence Ave., Kansas City, Mo., will hold its 6th Annual Bar-b-que from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 12. Menu includes smoked brisket, pork, chicken, corn on the cob (if available), salads, beverages and dessert. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 6.
