The Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday was the perfect opportunity to organize neighbors and do some pre-spring cleaning. Taking advantage of mild temperatures, a crew of about 10 neighborhood volunteers got together at the historic Indian Mound and cleaned all manner of trash, litter and debris from the hillside and woods that border Kessler Park.
Manny Abarca, an Indian Mound resident, organized the clean up with Sheffield Neighborhood Association President Mark Morales.
“We all had the day off and decided we’d clean up part of our neighborhood,” said Abarca.
