Walgreens at Independence and Hardesty received a makeover and to show it off, the store hosted a grand re-opening Friday, Sept. 16.
Upgrades included a new color scheme, updated and easier to read signage, color coded aisles, among other changes.
Walgreens also reorganized its stock, making items easier to find for customers and remodeled the shelves to display products at eye level.
Walgreens’ Store Manager Michael Johnson said Walgreens across the U.S. that are older than three years are being remodeled. Remodeling at the Northeast store began Aug. 22 and was completed by Sept 2.
All Walgreens in Kansas City will be remodeled by Oct. 1, he said.
Kansas City’s Walgreens, along with those in Portland, Ore., are testing a pilot program using a Walgreens’ reward card. Customers using the card can receive extra discounts by building up points and access store coupons, Johnson said.
Walgreens also offers a variety of immunizations, like the flu shot, Shingles vaccination and others. Customers can also have their cholesterol tested. Last year alone, the Walgreens at Independence and Hardesty administered 1,100 flu shots.
