With the charred rubble cleared away from 2609 Independence Blvd., the City of Kansas City is ready to discuss options.
Earlier in May, a fire destroyed the former Vista Theatre on Independence, which housed several businesses. Now, an empty lot serves as the only reminder of the historic site.
To discuss potential plans for the lot, the City Planning and Development Department has scheduled a charrette for Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. at North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd.
A charrette is an “intensive planning session” that allows area residents, stakeholders, city staff and others to discuss a vision for future development.
