So, with the Appeals Court decision in John Rizzo’s favor, which came down this past Wednesday [see story, page 1], does this mean the District 40 Democratic primary is officially over and Rizzo is the winner?
That’s the question we kept hearing this past week. And the answer? It’s hard to say. Due to the ever-ticking clock moving closer to the general election on Nov. 2 — less than two weeks away — Royster’s options are dwindling.
His next step would be to take the issue to the Missouri Supreme Court. Unfortunately, he’s not talking, so this newshound can’t offer much insight as to whether that is his intention. However, we really wouldn’t be surprised either way.
He’s fought long and hard over this one-vote decision, and to see this thing go to the next level would be in line with Royster’s previous actions. However, at the same time, how many defeats can a person take? It might be time to let this one go and pursue other avenues of leadership to reach his touted goals of Northeast improvement.
