An incident that originated near St. John Avenue and Topping Tuesday evening quickly escalated into an Operation 100.
According to police sources, shots were fired and a gun was pointed at victims at a residence in the 5700 block of St. John Avenue. The suspects jumped in their vehicle and were observed by officers traveling at a high rate of speed near Independence and Belmont.
Officers located the vehicle at a residence in the 6500 block of East 8th Street and detained people standing outside the residence. An Operation 100 was initiated and negotiations were then initiated with the occupants of the house. A short time later, three subjects, two males and one female, exited the house without incident and were detained by police for questioning.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. Tuesday the Operation 100 was terminated due to conflicting statements offered by suspects and victims. Police are continuing their investigation into the case this morning. No injuries were reported in the incident.
